Clark W. Michael has been behind the microphone on
radio frequencies up and down the U.S. West coast for
30+ years.
(see resume’) That’s a lot of talking !  Maybe in
the VO business, some would say that’s a lot of practice.
Day in and day out.  As a client searching for the just right
talent for your project, listen to Clark’s voice and copy
interpretation and you’ll feel confident he’s got the right
delivery that’s priced right for your project budget.

Clark spent most of his career as a music radio
personality.  His radio years were influenced by some of
the world’s most talented radio personalities in the San
Francisco Bay Area.  Clark listened to, and incorporated,
the styles of personalities such as Dan Sorkin, Carter B.
Smith, Frank Dill and Mike Cleary, Jim Lange and Gene
Nelson on radio stations KSFO and KNBR and others talk
oriented stations.  These announcers were (are) superb
announcer-personalities on full-service, adult-formatted
AM stations prior to the boom FM music radio years
beginning around 1970. Clark learned the art of on-air
communication by listening closely and absorbing these
pros practice their craft.

Clark spent three years on KMPX in San Francisco,
working with the legendary Russ  "the moose“ Syracuse.
Russ did the Bay Area famous "Love Line" at night, Clark
held down afternoon drive.  The KMPX call letters were
associated with the country’s very first ”underground” FM
album oriented rock station programmed by Tom Donahue.
All of these radio names are familiar to broadcast
historians as leaders of the art of talk and rock and vocal
communication.  Clark is proud to say his on-air
announcing and VO style has been deeply influenced by
these broadcast luminaries, and many more.

Clark began radio programming in the 80s and fine tuned
the craft of his people skills with advertisers, sales
people, owners and the on-air staff.  During his 12+ years
in programming and 3-decades of on-air announcing, his
ARB numbers have consistently been competitive.
Loosing is not an option.

Clark has voiced countless radio and TV commercials,
imaging liners, DVD corporate narrations, phone tree
messaging, Movie theater announcements and trailers and
has MC’d concerts and theatrical events at some of the
country’s premier venues   The Hyatt Regency Hotel, The
Concord Pavilion,  Bay Meadows Race Track, the Golden
Gate Band Shell and numerous  fairs and concert settings
all over the West.

Regarding the Voice Over business, Clark offers these
years of experience in understanding the nuance of
interpretation and timing in reading the client’s copy.  Clark
of course is not alone.  There are thousands of seasoned
veterans of varying degrees of expertise, style,
temperament and experience as well.  Why should you
choose him?

What sets Clark apart is his ability to read copy in a warm,
human and convincing way.  Clark understands that
everything about a voice over is a sales message.  The
client’s product or service is to be SOLD.  This is forefront
on his mind during the VO process.  The client using Clark’
s VO services will receive a compelling, listenable
advertisement or narration putting the most positive face
on the client’s business.

If one picture is worth a thousand words, Clark W.
Michael's voice will stimulate the theater of the mind.

News & Review Article

Chico News & Review

In case you missed it … Speaking of radio, those
who missed the entertaining, on-air tongue-
lashings of conservative radio talk show host Bruce
Sessions  can again get their fix on KPAY 1290,
where he previously hosted the popular Lifeline
show for 10 years.

The largely listener-directed Morning Show, in
which Sessions butts heads with liberal (“He
claims to be a moderate”) Clark Michael, debuted in
January. “It’s something new, and that’s what’s
interesting about it,” said Sessions, 68, who
“retired” in November 2001. That was when local
offices were held by conservatives. “My work was
done. All was right with the world,” he said. But then
the Chico City Council was “taken over by liberals,”
and Sessions figured he was needed. Plus, “I really
got very bored. I was out playing golf an awful lot.”

Corbin, the station manager, said when he took
over two years ago the station lacked the
“characters” it had been known for. The Sessions-
Michael match is proving a win for KPAY. “The
phones stay lit up all time,” he said. The two even
take on guests. “They have a tremendous amount
of respect for each other.”

Just a note:  This show ran for about 2-years at the
height of verbal rage about  the American/Iraq war
and was furious fodder for the left and the right.
The wing nuts really crawled out from under the
rocks on this one. I taped many of the shows and
I'm considering creating a CD of the back and forth
exchange on the opinions exchanged on this
show.  Some of the "host" and listener comments
might blow you away.   They did me.  I still have to
take my medication regularly to overcome some of
what was said.

To Whom It May Concern:

This is a letter of recommendation for Clark Michael.  I
have known and worked with Clark for 20 years.  If I had
to sum up Clark in one word it would be “Professional”.
In terms of his work on KPAY specifically, it has been
nothing short of phenomenal.  The imaging, liners, and
promos he has produced have had an immediate and
continuing positive effect on this station.  His ability to
recognize the important issues and convert them into
relevant, fresh, compelling, and entertaining imaging has
powered our News/Talk station to a new level.  I would
highly recommend Clark for any project.

Sincerely,

Thanks Clark . Good luck in Ohio and if I do need a news guy, you’
ll be high on the list.
Hi Clark,

Thanks so much....The audio presentations are outstanding!   I am in
the process of downloading them to my iPOD for 2 purposes:

1) So I can listen to them while on the treadmill at the gym;
2) I will also promote them at the NOW Foods Open House in June
on the iPOD/Bose speaker dock system allowing people to listen as
they pass by my booth.  I am also burning a few sets of CDs and will
raffle them off at the open house, while finding out how much interest
our retailers have in the CD option.

Thanks again....It has been a wonderful pleasure to work with you!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day as we celebrate and remember those
who have dedicated their lives for our freedoms.

Kudos to the Morning Show, which was voted best
Local news cast by the CNR.  You guys are the
best.

Best local newscast

KPAY
Like many people, we watch local TV newscasts.
We also listen to the radio, and we find the news
on KPAY to be music to our ears. Substance with
style is the trademark of AM 1290’s morning team:
anchors Clark Michael and Larry Jones, reporters
Bruce Lang and Christina Craven, sports guy Mike
Baca and good ol’ Anthony “that’s Watt[’]s up with
weather.” No fluffy featurettes here, and media
types especially appreciate how KPAY credits
other outlets when it picks up their stories. We’re
just careful to switch stations at 9:06—Rush
makes us queasy …

Hi Clark -

It is great!  I had one typo on slide 3....I am SOOO
sorry.  It should say "CSR's" (customer service
reps) instead of CRS's".  Sorry, I cut and paste it
from another document.

The music is just fine....maybe a tad louder?
Otherwise....PERFECT.....check's in the mail!
